strawberry shortcakes

the syrupy strawberries, the creamy yogurt, & the crumbling shortcakes will make your morning as spectacular as this combination!

(serves 6 & takes 35 minutes)


2 cups all-purpose flour + more for surface

1½ tsp baking powder

¼ tsp baking soda

½ cup sugar

1½ tsp kosher salt

zest & juice of 2 limes

½ cup unsalted butter

¾ cup sour cream

⅓ cup heavy cream

1½ lb strawberries, hulled & quartered

2 cups Greek yogurt


1. preheat oven to 400°F. in a large bowl, whisk 2 cups flour, baking powder, baking soda, 4 tsp sugar, & salt. add lime zest & butter.

2. in a medium bowl, combine sour cream & heavy cream. add to dry ingredients. knead a couple times & transfer to lightly-floured surface. pat into 6" x 6" square.

3. cut into 4 squares & stack them on top of each other. press down & flatten into 7½" x 5" rectangle. cut into 6. transfer to parchment-lined baking sheet. sprinkle with 1 tbsp sugar. freeze 10 minutes. bake 20 minutes.

4. meanwhile, in a medium bowl, toss strawberries, lime juice, & 3 tbsp sugar. let sit, tossing occasionally. on 6 plates, divide shortcakes with a dollop of yogurt & top with strawberries.
