this soft pull-apart monkey bread goes great with a glass of fresh orange juice to brighten up this Monday morning!

(serves 8 & takes 25 minutes + 1⅘ hour idle)
ingredients
1¼ cup whole milk
1 tbsp granulated sugar
6 tbsp butter
1¼-oz envelope active dry yeast
1 large egg yolk
3½ cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp fresh sage, finely chopped
2 tbsp chives, finely chopped
procedure
1. in a small saucepan over low heat, stir milk, sugar, & 2 tbsp butter. pour into large bowl. stir in yeast & let sit 5 minutes. stir in yolk.
2. in a small bowl, whisk flour, sage, & ½ tsp salt. add to yeast mixture. on a floured surface, knead 8 minutes, until dough is smooth. in a bowl greased with butter, let dough rise, covered, 30 minutes.
3. preheat oven to 350°F. in a small bowl, stir chives & 3 tbsp butter. divide dough into 32 balls. brush each with chive butter & place in baking dish. cover & let rise in a warm place, 30 minutes.
4. bake 25 minutes. cover with foil & bake 20-30 minutes more. brush while hot with the remaining butter.
