this gooey butter cake will create an explosion of creamy & sweet flavor in your mouth this morning!

(serves 6 & takes 1 hour)
ingredients
1½ cups granulated sugar
¾ cups + ½ tbsp unsalted butter
1 tsp kosher salt
2 large egg
1½ cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tbsp whole milk
½ tbsp + 1 tsp vanilla extract
½ tbsp baking powder
¾ cups sour cream
powdered sugar, for dusting
procedure
1. to make goo, in a large bowl, beat ¾ cups granulated sugar, 6 tbsp butter, & ½ tsp salt. beat in ½ an egg (set aside the other ½) & ¾ cup flour. add maple syrup, milk, & ½ tbsp vanilla. set aside.
2. preheat oven to 350°F. grease a pan with butter. to make batter, in a medium bowl, combine ¾ cup flour, baking powder, & ½ tsp salt. in a large bowl, combine ¾ cup granulated sugar, & 6 tbsp butter. beat in 1 egg, the ½ egg remaining, & 1 tsp vanilla. stir in dry ingredients & sour cream in 3 separate alternating additions, beginning & ending with dry ingredients.
3. pour batter into prepared pan, & using a spatula, spread goo on top. bake 50 minutes, until browned. dust with powdered sugar.
