blackberry tahini cake

this not-so-sweet blackberry tahini cake will go perfectly with your morning cup of Joe & make your Monday morning amazing.

(serves 8 & takes 10 min active + 50 min idle)


butter, for greasing

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

4 tbsp + 1 cup sugar

2¼ cups all-purpose flour

2 tsp baking powder

½ tsp + a pinch of kosher salt

2 large eggs

1 cup plain yogurt

½ cup canola oil

2½ tsp finely grated lemon zest

2 cups fresh blackberries

¼ cup tahini (this is the best)


1. preheat oven to 350°F. in a small bowl, combine cinnamon & 2 tbsp sugar.

2. in a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, 1 cup sugar, & salt. make a well in the center & add eggs, yogurt, oil, & zest. add in blackberries, & pour batter into a butter-greased cake pan.

3. in another small bowl, mix tahini, a pinch of salt, & 2 tbsp sugar. drizzle over batter. sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture.

4. bake 50–60 minutes. let cool, slice, & serve.
