almond & cherry baked oatmeal

this baked oatmeal, all in one dish, is the perfect breakfast for the family style gatherings of the holidays. as the week and the new year begin, let this breakfast serve as a reminder that the most important part about breakfast is the people you share it with!

(serves 4 & takes 40 minutes)


1 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces + more for greasing

1½ cups old-fashioned oats

⅓ cup dark brown sugar

½ tsp baking powder

2 tsp cinnamon

¼ tsp salt

1 cup chopped almonds

1 cup fresh cherries, pitted & sliced

1¼ cups milk

1 egg

½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract


1. preheat the oven to 350°F. lightly grease a baking dish with butter.

2. in a large bowl, mix together the oats, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, almonds, & cherries. make a well in the center.

3. pour the milk, egg, & vanilla into the center & mix to combine. pour the entire mixture into the baking dish & dot the surface with butter.

4. bake for 25 minutes, until the oatmeal has absorbed all the liquid & the top is golden brown. serve warm.
